Carbonation systems

Carbonation occurs extremely gently with our modules. There are no sintered candles or other dead areas which are hard to keep clean. The beverage is not exposed to any extreme shear forces either. Our carbonation plants only do what is necessary for the carbonation effect with the product and CO2. First of all the CO2 gas is dosed finely into the product flow inline. After this the product finds its way into a special static or dynamic mixer (depending on system type) together with the CO2 which has not yet been dissolved. Here the gas bubbles are separated into very fine beads and forced into the liquid due to the increase in pressure. Carbonation up to a value of 10 g/litre of dissolved CO2 is possible depending on the beverage.

-CarboMat, semi-automatic
-CarboServe, fully automatic

The accompanying diagram shows the solubility of CO2 in degassed water. The table can also be used as an approximation for beer and other beverages. Dissolving CO2 in beverages requires a defined pressure dependent on the beverage temperature. If this pressure is gone below, the CO2 gas leaves the solution. Gas bubbles emerge in the beverage.

CarboFix

Simple and reliable.
CarboFix is a device for reliable inline carbonation of beverages. The system essentially consists of a variable area flow meter, a pressure regulator, a needle metering valve for the CO2 gas and a static mixer in the product. The operator sets the value to be dosed for the CO2 gas precisely subject to the volumetric flow rate of the product. The display on the variable area flow meter is very precise. Carbonation proceeds reliably throughout the production phase with the pre-set value. Operation is straightforward. The only important factors for the operator are a knowledge of the flow rate of the product and shutting off the CO2 feed once production has been completed.
CarboFix can easily be incorporated into the CIP cleaning process. This is true from both a product and a gas perspective. When doing so the gas side is disconnected from the product side so that it is mix-proof.

CarboFix Rev2

CarboMat

Partially automatic and with a high certainty of outcom.

CarboMat is ideal if there is only a restricted budget available. However, it is not only the low investment costs which are the decisive factor for this solution. This module is also extremely robust and even staff with limited qualifications will find it easy to operate and maintain. Rough ambient conditions such as water hammers in the pipework or power failures will hardly cause any damage to the system. Its level of availability and resistance to production losses cannot be bettered.
Although the technology involved is relatively simple, the system is so precise that the consumer cannot identify any variation between different product batches. The dosing is read on the variable area flow meter and set precisely on the dosing valve. Initiators trigger an alarm if there is a deviation from the pre-set CO2 dosage quantity. The beverage line is also equipped with a flow monitor to provide further security. The flow monitor identifies different flow rates and provides a corresponding error message or stops production if there are deviations. The pressure in the beverage line is kept exactly at the value intended via a mechanical regulating valve.

CarboMat

CarboServ

Fully automatic with low energy costs.

There is in principle no competing system which can provide a higher level of precision. The system can be connected to a current or future central control without any difficulty. The module also has a record of the operating parameters as a "stand alone" version. The required CO2 content for each product is recorded in the recipe editor. The system settles the specified values automatically. An automatic regulating valve is used to keep the beverage pressure at the value which is necessary for dissolving the intended CO2 quantity at the current product temperature. The resultant lower power consumption of the product pump reduces energy costs for the operation.
