Static Mixers

Static mixers which work

The process parameters (flow speed, viscosity, physical state, operating pressure) must be taken into consideration more than almost any other component when selecting a static mixer. Real life conditions often differ from the conditions assumed during the design process and the mixer will then not function correctly.
We decided to develop three series of mixers which are more tolerant of changes in operating conditions. Choose the right mixer on the basis of the category and the flow rate. These three series do in principle cover all applications.

  • Type 1: Static mixer for dissolving gases in liquids
The hygienic solution for carbonation or ventilation (brewery applications).

  • Type 2: Static mixer for media of the same physical state
If a liquid is to be mixed with another liquid or a gas with another gas, our Type 2 is the right solution.

  • Type 3: Static mixer for auxiliary media
Reasonably priced and often the perfect choicereis.

Static Mixers

Type 1: Static mixer for mixing liquids with gases

Typ 1 Gas Flüssig

In order to dissolve a gas in a liquid by using a static mixer it is first of all necessary to separate the gas into many gas bubbles which are as small as possible. The contact surface between gas and liquid, which has now been magnified, facilitates the mixing of both media regardless of the pressure and dissolving capacity. Turbulent flow conditions with an adequate operating pressure must be present in order to achieve an optimal mixture. A gas-liquid mixer is thus always afflicted by a loss in pressure. With our Type 1, 5 powerful effects ensure the function. First of all large air bubbles are reduced by means of a special orifice plate. Turbulence forms behind the orifice plate, which induces thorough mixing. An increase in the nominal diameter reduces the coalition effect (the tendency of small gas bubbles to join together with larger bubbles). Guide rails join the liquid flows together. A loss of pressure occurs in the annular gap between the outer pipe and the inner pipe and this encourages the dissolution of the gas. The Type 1 mixer can therefore be used for the dissolving of gases in liquids without downstream maintenance of pressure provided that the operating parameters are close to the design parameters. Our Type 1 is ideal for inline cleaning (CIP). We manufacture this mixer type to order in many sizes and materials and with many types of connection.
Type 2: Static mixer for mixing media with the same physical state

Typ 2 Mixer

Our Type 2 is a “Helix” mixer. It is suitable for mixing media with the same physical state i.e. liquid or gaseous media. It is not suitable for dissolving gases in a liquid. The Type 2 mixer does not generate any notable loss in pressure. It is therefore also possible to mix highly viscous media. In such a case it is important that the viscosity of the two liquids to be mixed is similar. As a rule mixing occurs in a laminar flow pattern. The mixing effect is independent of the flow speed over a wide range. Our Type 2 mixer is also ideal for inline cleaning. We manufacture this mixer type to order in many sizes and materials and with many types of connection.
Type 3: Static mixer for auxiliary media

Typ 3 Mixer

Our Type 3 mixer is a cost-effective solution for mixing water, in order to gain the correct temperature behind a mixing point immediately for example. For this purpose you can also make use of our water mixing module. The Type 3 can also be used for dissolving gases in water although downstream maintenance of pressure is required in this case. The Type 3 mixer only causes a slight loss in pressure and it is also effective at lower flow speeds. The mixer should be cleaned inline although this is not as effective as with our other mixers. This mixer should not be used for highly viscous products and products with solid components. This mixer too is manufactured to order in almost every available size, in many different materials and with many different types of connection. A pack of “Raschig” rings is used as the mixing element.
